Re: white smoke need help

well im running 7 now heres what happened I had a turbo on there from an 84 ford well the internals of the turbo were leaking oil real bad but I was really retarded and ran 15 pounds of boost on the stock engine now the engine wasnt smoking before I put that turbo on now Ive bought a brand new turbonetics turbo and I hadnt started my engine up before putting this new one on.Now there is smoke coming out of the engine.Would you suggest I keep an eye on my coolant and all that crap. How hard is it to replace a blown head gasket is it expenisive?

u ran 15 PSI on a Stock Motor....ohh man.....its for sure ur head gasket...since you blew that one replace it with a cometic head gasket..they can handle higher boost ..not to high tho....12 PSI is good....good thing you didnt blow ur rings and ring lans...cometic head gasket run for 160....then u gotta find someone to intall it...good luck....

Re: white smoke need help

I've blown a few head gaskets, never one on a turbo car but sometimes if you check the oil you can see the water, or antifreeze on the dip stick if it is blown, and generally the car tends to overheat.

Re: white smoke need help

is it hard to replace it,do you have to pull the motor cause I really dont want to have to do that considering I dont have an engine lift?

Re: white smoke need help

changing a head gasket is easy, you have to pull off the head the remove all the vac lines from the intake and the rear intake bracket. (I would pull it with the intake on the head.)remove your exaust mainfold, valve cover then take out the head bolts, this is where it helps to have a few friends with you... pull the head out. get the head shaved a a machine shop that should run you around $100-$200, a new gasket will be around $100-$140 for the good stuff. I would put lables on all of the bolts and put them in bags so you don't forget where they go... also you might want to get the block and head built while its at the machine shop... hope this helps
