Injectors

I'm planing to buy new inyector for my proyect and i found 4 differet ones I don't know wich one is better for the configuration i will have
I found: PT Lucas 550cc --->$217
680cc--->$280
780cc--->$280
880cc--->$280
Plz tell me wich one should be better for my car, if I put a 16g or 14b turbo not sure wich one I have yet i guess that is a 16g, k&n air filter, Walbro 255 fuel pump, ACT 2600 (I don't want to have the same problem I had with the clutch,I want a strong one now ), Greddy Type-S, Greddy 3" exhaust, 3" down pipe, and I think thats all i can put tell me if i'm missing something
Thanks

Re: Injectors

550's will be fine for everything but the fastest 16g's... I'd say worry about it when you've got everything up to that point.. including fuel control and a pump. Some EVO 16g owners say they max 550's, so 660's wouldn't be a bad idea if you ever plan on upgrading. If you want to get DSMlink, you can run any of them.

Re: Injectors

in the ealge i was runnig with the "14b 16g" with the stock fuel pump and inyector but the check engine light was always on the mechanic said that the problem was the ecu , he said that the signal wasn't stong enought, I thought that the problem was in the fuel cause if i'm running a the car with a bigger turbo i should need more fuel in the cylinders, thats my idea and i'm almos sure i'm wrong

Re: Injectors

no, more fuel means fuel controller. S-AFC2 can only handle 660's I believe. DSMlink can do more.

Re: Injectors

The key is what fuel you are going to run. With an AFC, you only have 50% adjustment in either direction. 660s will put you around -32%, not leaving much room to lean out on race gas. But its doable. Of course on race gas 550s are more than enough for a 16g. On pump gas and high boost, you'll want the 660s. Also remember that the bigger the injector you use, the more you drop the airflow signal to the ECU, making timing go even higher. I would try to run the 550s unless you think you really need the 660s. Or run the 660s and retard base timing if you have a 1g, or 2g with with 1g CAS.

DSMlink is always the best setup, but at the least, if you have an eprom ECU, get the chip with injector compensation that Jeff O offers at keydiver (http://www.dsmchips.com/). With injector compensation chip, or DSMink, you can run whatever injector you want without bollixing up your timing and risking your motor.

IMO, YMMV, etc

Re: Injectors

how should i know if i have an eprom ecu, and my idea is still using this car like a street car during the weeh and for the track on the weekends, so i think that the best is the 550's safer and easyer cause i don't have to change nothing on the timming.

Re: Injectors

IF you arent going for big time pump power, then 550s should be the best way to go. Only 95 cars had eproms, so you shouldnt have one, another reason to lean towards 550s.

Re: Injectors

I was just saying the bigger the better, but you can only go so big depending on what fuel control you are going to use. Hell if I don't buy 850's for bragging rights.. as long as I invest in DSMlink.
