Question AWD rims question

I have a 97' GSX eclipse and i want to get rims but the ones i want are for FWD. If it has 5 lugs like my car will it matter? Or do i have to get special rims specifically for AWD cars?
Thanx

Re: AWD rims question

You don't need special rims, wheels, or even tires for an awd car. As long as you buy wheels with a 5-bolt pattern, they will fit your car. Many wheels with lug covers will fit both 4 and 5 bolt patterns. Good luck with the wheels

Re: AWD rims question

The whole FWD vs RWD thing for rims is just an absurd redneck way to look at things left over from the 80s. RWD is reverse offset, while FWD is all psotive offset. Or "deepdish" wheels for RWD vs the typical FWD rim with the mounting surface at the face of the wheel. The AWD uses the same offset as the FWD DSM. GST/GSX wheels are interchangeable.

Re: AWD rims question

Well, you should always get the right offset. But there is a little leeway plus/minus. A few mm at msot though. Unless you have narrow wheels. My Mazda 17x7s fit the pattern (5x114?), but the offset is off a few mm and brand new tires will rub the suspension and smoke for a day or two. Its worth getting it right, I'm just cheap (those wheels with tires were 400 bucks, and I'm pulling 1.5s on them )

Find out what the offset is on the MAzda Millenia stock wheels, 17x7s. Thats what I run. And with 215/50/17s they just rub on the suspension.

Re: AWD rims question

Holy crap, thats a lot of quotes. I'm starting to like this! Less work for me. So um, yeah, all that stuff above

Though Mike R (in the vette video you may have seen on my site) just went to John Sheps old hoosier/rota combo and ran 1.5s all night, including I believe a 1.52. Thats VERY tempting.
