Re: thermal wrap?
thermal wrap = good
the downside is that it keeps all the heat in, which can decrease the life of the metal that the downpipe/headers are made of. i have my downpipe painted and wrapped... and you can touch the pipe after it's been idleing for a while. there's just nasty smoke when it's first put on (baking solid) but a cooler engine bay always = good

The fact that it keeps the exaust hot is a very good thing. However wraps can be very dangerous especially on the exaust manifold since the temperatures experienced by the metals are much higher.
What I would recomend instead is to take your exaust manifold port and polish it then send it to be ceramic coated on the inside.

Re: thermal wrap?
depending on how many miles your car has on it, it might not matter that the metal might go a little sooner.
but aside from that part, the only real downside is the horrible stank when the stuff is melting onto the metal |

no no no...130C that way to little, it will melt in no time. This is the proper way to do stuff: http://users2.ev1.net/~subaru/evo_web/evo_exhaust.htm and if you look at the prices its not too bad

Re: thermal wrap?
I vote ceramic coating. My header was only $120 to have it ceramic coated.
