Question 94 Olds Cierra 3.1L rough/choppy cold idle...??'s

Hi all...

I am having trouble with (2) '94 Olds. Cierras (3.1L) that when started cold have trouble with a choppy and rough idle. It almost seems like vacuum trouble to me but lines all look good and engines are WELL maintained. Approx. 95K miles on each.

If left alone the cars will proceed to almost stall after the idle becomes very rough and almost seems to miss and 'pop' through the intake followed by a surge in RPM. It will then start all over again until it eventually will stall. If given gas to try and keep it running it will bog down for a second or two and then reach a high RPM leveling out and continuing this behavior until warm. If put in gear cold and attempted to drive it bogs out and will bounce between a stall and a high RPM when starting out from a stop till it gets warm.

The cars run like tops when warm. I get no error codes/check engine light at all on the cars.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Its not a big problem (yet) but it is annoying to have to sit and make sure the car(s) is warm before putting in gear and driving.

Thanks for looking!!!

Brian
