more 95 s-10 starting problems

My dad has a 95 s-10 pick-up with the vortec engine- 4.3.
It quit starting earlier this week. It turns, but doesn't quite catch. we replaced dist cap, rotor, spark plugs and wires & still nothing. The fuel pump is working, and the fuel filter is working. We have spark. we sprayed gas into the carb and it started up and ran great. we probably statred it up and ran it 10 times and then finally this morning it quit starting again. Any ideas? We removed the EGR valve, and it looks fine, no sticking or obstructures, but I don't really know what to look for.

Check the fuel pressure regulator and the injector. this is a common problem with these 4.3 vortec motors.

check your fuel pressure. The fuel pump may run, but may not be building enough pressure. Could be the fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator.
