96-1/2 Z71 Trans Problem

Need help!
The transmisson will not shift properly. When you step on the brake the speedometer goes out and then the transmisson loses the signal. If you step on the brake again, sometimes it will start working again. Does anyone have any ideas? The 4x4 in this truck is electrical not mechanical shitf.

I'd start by checking the ground connections, battery connection

Wasn't there a TSB for a ground wire for the trans on 96 and 97. I know there was some sort of TSB related to a ground problem with the trans on 97, I,m just not exactly sure what.
