Lightbulb radical firebird idea...need input

As you may have notise in some of my newer post, I'm thinking of getting a firebird. I have a radical idea for a sweet rear suspension and i need feedback, any feedback. I was thinking of buying 2 old sport bikes (same make, model, year) from a junkyard, ripping out the engine, dressing them up, cutting them in half, and putting the back half on the back of the firebird. I wanted a sportbike that had a hinged back end. Mine thought was, you know how when ever a sport bike takes off from idle, how it flatten's out, putting alot of traction on the back tires, I thought that would work for this, maybe in combo with a airfoil or wing. Plus, would that just look cool, 2 motorcycle style tires sticking out of the back of a firebird. anyway, tell want you think, even if it suck's and I have no right to even be around a car. Thanx.

I think the idea of the hinge suspension on a bike is to control rotation of the bike during acceleration. Without the hinge the bike would be more prone to doing a 'wheelie', which inhibits bike control.

Unless you car makes so much power that the front tires lift off the ground, I dont think you will see any significant benefit from this. It would be a lot of work to implement this idea, and the benefits if any would not justify your time and money.

If you want to do something with real benefit, I recommend for your first mod try reducing your cars weight by 500 lbs ;-)

EDIT

The more I think about my response the more I think it is wrong. I will wont delete it though in the hopes that others will post there ideas. I am beginning to think the hinge design is simply a more compact suspension solution for motorcycles.

You have got to give it the creativity award. I think you wouldnt get the affect that you are after. You would need to get a lot of the weight toward the front of the car, or like the other guy said have enough power to lift the front of the car nearly off the ground. If you had that kind of power, will the suspension be able to handle such a load? Also what about traction with those small tires. Great for cornering, and holding the pavement in a bike, but trying to push and handle a 3500lb or whatever car? THink you are going to run into a lot of alignment problems too because both sides must be absolutely the same dimensions. Look into it though, it would be interesting.

your right, there will be alot of problems to work out. that's what makes it fun. as for the suspension, I was thinking of using aftermarket air billos to hold it up, a big enough compressor will do the job. As for if the tires can handle the weight, I don't know. That's why I want feedback. Thanx for the feedback so far. Keep it coming.

P.S.-I was also thinking of hinging it, attaching it to the front wheels, and basically getting a motorcycle stye benifit on cornering. also I thought of using a RX-8. I know this all sounds up in the air kind of thing, but I wanted to get a broad range of input before blowing the money. Also I'm going to post this thread in other places, just so alot of people see it, so moderators please don't get pissed off.
