is this why the vr4 wasn't as popular from the begining?
as far as the 5 twinturbo's from japan. 300zx, 3000gt, supra, rx-7 and skyline.
maybe the reason the vr4 was overlooked is because it didn't have any past history. i mean there was the MKIII supras the older 89 rx-7, the old Z's and even the skyline goes way back. our cars on the other hand just poped up out of know were. and instead of for instance the supra how it went from 92 and was anticipated to change to a new body style with new power and whatnot. the vr4 just happend. input fellas

Well, i think that ur correct on ur thoughts about the vr4. Of course, it would be interesting what would happen if the 3000gt were to be re-made say in 2007 and how the sales would go. However, i don't know how much better u could make a car like ours...i know their are problems that could be fixxed, but nevertheless...how could u make a sexier body than the one it has???

Re: is this why the vr4 wasn't as popular from the begining?
youngvr4 thats a pretty good thought, i wouldn't be suprised if that was the main valid reason that there aren't to many of us around. However to our defense, i haven't seen nearly as many of the other import cars you mentioned as 3000gt's in my area, with the exception of a 300zx
If the 3000gt was remade we'd surely gain an entirely new generation of fans and hopefully they would lighten it up a bit next time around, but whos to say there would ever be a next time |

History could have played a role into their popularity. But another thing to look at is the weight of the car, not too practical for race cars coming out of japan. In Canada, the 3s is classiified under the urban-exotic. I dont think that if it were re-made, it will be affordable for most

While Mitsubishi is one of the largest companies in the world - its automobile division isn't all that large. They didn't do a lot of marketing, or have a large presence in the states. Heck, my uncle was slightly distressed when I bought it since he was a navy vet from WWII (Mitsubishi manufactured the Zero fighter plane). So, I’m sure there was some of that resentment still going on.
I do think that pedigree also plays a roll, but its not something that weighs much with me.
