Recall for 95

Talked to Bill at the 8004426537 number. Was told there is a rear seat belt recall (00023) for my 95 but no fuel rail recall. I pressed him on any upcomming recalls but he made no mention of it for a 95. Is there a way to get the fuel rail done on a 95 under the current recall or do we just wait it out and hope they issue one?

Yes, there is a recall on the fuel rail from 1995 to 1997 Aurora's.
You may need to have a dealer to call for authorization to repair it.

The fuel rail may look fine, but that plastic tube will and can leak at anytime.

I too have a '95 and when I brought my car in last month for an SES (unrelated to the Fuel R issue) prompt they checked with GM on recalling my car. GM said no as the rail in mine (perhaps yours too) is not affected by the recall.

I am sure the dealer was accurate as he stood to make some coin from GM.

Re: Recall for 95

there is to "be" a recall for the earlier models that will be seperate, you have a different rail with a different fuel return line that this recall won't fix/replace, your's needs a different part not ready to go yet.

The parts are available, just not in large numbers yet is my understanding. I had my 95 done under a pending recall a month or so ago here in Lansing.

Acorrding to NHTSA.com the recall has been issued for 95's. Go there and you can do a search on anything to see if any recalls have been issued and read all of this one.

DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE ENGINE FUEL RAIL WITH A NEW STAINLESS STEEL FUEL RAIL. DEALERS WILL ALSO INSTALL A REVISED CHASSIS FUEL RETURN LINE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 2, 2004. FOPR 1996-1997 OLDSMOBILE AURORA VEHICLES. OWNERS OF 1995 CADILLACS AND 1996-1997 OLDSMOBILE AURORA WERE SENT LETTERS ON AUGUST 6, 2004. ADDITIONAL LETTERS TO OWNERS WILL BE FORTHCOMING. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT OLDSMOBILE AT 1-800-630-6537.
Notes:
GM RECALL NO. 04014. CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION’S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

95 fuel rail recall

New stainless 95 rails are getting into the system now. Had my 95 repaired at the dealer with a call from the 800 # to the dealer. BUT, I wasn't just taking it in for the recall, my rail had failed and was already at the dealer. IMHO, I think they will repair a 'diagnosed leaking' rail with the new part now, and are waiting for enough new rails in the warehouse to begin the full recall.

Now that is interesting. When I went their for one problem I specifically mentioned the FR recall and they said they just checked my VIN with GM and it was not recalled (yet?)

Re: Recall for 95

I e-mailed Oldsmobile about the recall and this is a piece of the reply:

We have processed the information on your 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora and did not find any open recalls. Recalls are vehicle identification number specific so not all vehicles of a model year are affected. The recall you are inquiring about involves 1996 and 1997 Auroras. If your vehicle becomes involved in the recall you will be notified by mail.

If you are experiencing a concern with your vehicle, please visit a dealer. If you were not already working with a dealership another option you may choose to pursue would be to contact your dealership of choice for assistance. If you would like to search for dealers, please visit our Web site and select the "Dealer Locator" option on the tool bar or by simply clicking on the following URL:
