loud exhaust. help.

hey guys, i got a 94 civic vti (d16 vtec) and the car came with short ram filter and a loud exhaust. when u look at the exhuast, it looks stock. only a shiny tip at the front which is welded on. i look underneath the car, and the piping is 2.5 inch. is that a stock size piping. when i look at it, it kinda looks purple color. it loud ass. and im kinda getting crazy over it. cause it kinda like a fart can, theres knwo brand on the exhaust. its stock headers i think, i havent really check wheather it stock header or not, i have to remove the heat shield.

but i was reading in this forums about, a resonator for the xhaust. can soem one post me a picture where it is. and if u do take the resonatore off, will it make the ehxuast louder. cause maybe the stupid previous owner took it off. cause i was planning on buying the stock exhaust.

i hate it, cause it isnt and doesnt look like a brand named exhaust. it is loud as, if i go past a school where theres lots of students, every one looks. can some one help me

thanks

Re: loud exhaust. help.

Checked if the catalytic converter is still there, it is located on the front of the car where the exhaust pipe bends.

If the intake resonator was taken off, (have to remove the stock air box) and the piping was enlarged with no catalytic converter, the sound will be loud. Also check the silencer, of the exaust, if the pipe on the back is just straight, then you have to bolt it up again.

Re: loud exhaust. help.

maybe but can u guys post what a stock exhaust and piping looks like also the converter. cause i ask a honda wrecker here in australia, it cost 220 buck with the exhaust and piping upto the converter. so that would be close to 150 US dollars i think

the car came with a short ram intake. and i think the intake resonator is removed cause of the hissing noise from the intake.
wait what r u talking about the pipe is straight. i'll check. and what should i just bolt back on.
no the exhaust isnt one of those stainless steel ones. it is a stock lookin exhaust, just with a tip at the end.

can u guys elp me, if can i'll try and post pics but maybe in a few days,

does any one here know any site whihc i can upload my pictures for free and post it up with out u guys needing a username and password.

thanks, but yeah, do u guys know any site or any of u guys have pics of a stock exhaust and piping and cat converter. cause if i remember, when i look at the pipes underneath, cause i have a 4 door, and when i look underneath the right rear door, the pipe bends to the direction of the centre, then bends again towards the engine. and the pipe is 2.5" and is kinda lower then the rest of the piping. thanks

Re: loud exhaust. help.

ok, i read in another forum that a resonator kinda looks like a catalyctic converter. so when i look underneath my car, i can only see the catalyctic converter. nothing else. the the pipe is 2.5" so maybe when the previous owner put in the exhaust, he took out the resonator.
does the resonator kinda look like that.

so my question is, if he did remove it, will i beable to buy one from the honda wreckers and weld it back on, even though the pipe is 2.5"
or is there bolts whihc u can connect them back together.

please anyone

Re: loud exhaust. help.

yes, from theback of the muffler, the pipe does go straight, then when towards the engine, the pipe bends left at around the rear door, then bends right heading towards the cat converter when up to the engine.
