Sorry for the drama

The fiasco with the Geo Metro thread was my fault. I should have said it was a loaner car from the body shop or something, so nobody would think I'm some kind of ungrateful prick. I didn't think that detail would be a big deal. I thought it would be amusing for once to pick on a GM car, rather than waiting for all the Chevy and Pontiac owners to come in here and tell us how much Civics suck. I think if I had written the introduction differently, the thread would have gone much better.

I try to keep 99% of my posts helpful and patient. From something simple like explaining what OEM stands for (even if it IS for the hundredth time, guys), to something more time consuming like going step by step how to replace brake drums and shoes. I've learned a lot of good things on this site, and I'd like to think I've helped at least a few people out, too. If I know about something, I chime in. If not, I shut up and listen. I spent pretty much my whole first year on this site just searching the forums, reading old posts, and not saying a thing.

As I understand it, "flaming" is going into a thread to post something stupid or inflammatory. The ONLY time I've done that (which I regret) was the "rice" comment I made in the HID headlights thread. And that was just kidding around, one Civic driver to another. It was only supposed to be a friendly punch in the arm, not a kick in the balls. I apologize for that. But as for the rest, hey - we all love our cars, and we all have opinions about the best way to run them. Otherwise we wouldn't be wasting our time in here. I've got lots of friends who drive Hondas, but none that sit around and talk about them on the Internet all day. So if I disagree with you, don't get offended, and don't freak out on me. We're all here to shoot the shit about this stuff, and we all agree on more points than it sometimes seems.

For those who don't, I'm sorry.
I'll try to keep things more nuts-and-bolts from now on, keeping the jokes to a minimum and the friendly jabs only among friends. But I'm not going to apologize for my technical opinions, and I wouldn't expect anyone else to, either.
