Question turbo or no?

sup guys my car is a base model auto with 120k on it. I plan on gettin a vr-4 in a couple years n im wonderin if i should save up for a turbo on my car now or does the car have to many miles to do that now? Also what about a supercharger can u do that for our cars? I heard superchargers are better for autos but that might not be true i dunno. Just tryin to make this thing a little quicker. Got my exhaust on n my intake commin soon just wanted ur guys input if i should try the turbo or whatever. Is it worth dumpin the $ in for turbos cuz i do really love this car n its in mint cond. Or should i wait a few years and invest in the vr-4? One more thing if i dont spend the $ on a turbo can i get a shift kit for the car to make me better off the line? If so how much? Thanks fellas ill check back l8r. Any 1 that gets a chance throw in your .

I suggest you wait until you get your VR4, dollar for dollar you'll get more performance increases with VR4 modifications.

Re: turbo or no?

ahh auto questions, if i can't answer all of them hotshot will be able to im sure.
Well first off, my 93 base auto has 125,000 miles on it and im saving up money and slowly buying the parts for the conversion, i plan on having the engine rebuilt eventually with a 9:1 compression as well to handle the boost a little better. Now im doing this because i do not have the option to get a vr-4.

You can get a shift kit for our cars, i have one laying in my room waiting to be installed but if you have a shop install it for you, it can become quite pricey though if you can't install it yourself you dont have many other options. The shift kit will make quicker shifts which will help you hold boost very efficiently if you decide to go the tt route which is better than a manual because in a manual the turbos have to respool after each shift. A shift kit will not help you off the line that much, a high stall torque converter will, i will find the site if you want to check it out.

There are superchargers out there for our cars and a couple of kits are made for our cars but i think the reason you've found information about it being better than a twin turbo conversion is because it helps low end a lot more which is something we lack as automatics. However when it comes down to the big decision its more a matter of personal taste and funds whether you go tt or supercharged.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both FWD and AWD cars (the base is a FWD and vr-4 is AWD). With awd you will get a pretty good launch off of the line but suffer from drivetrain loss from a roll. This works almost vice versa for a tt fwd, it may suffer traction issues off the line but anywhere after that it will fly.

lastly if your looking to get a better launch off the line look into brake launching, its about the only way us autos can get anything off the line, just never ever consider neutral dropping. Thats the best i can give you
hope i could help
