Exclamation Screwed by Online Merchant

Hi Folks,

Has anyone had any trouble with any online merchants buying after market options for your car?

I've recently been screwed by one and I was wondering if anyone would happen to know how I could possibly fix my situation.

I own a Jeep Cherokee, 2001 and recently ordered a K&N AirCharger kit from http://www.CheapPerformance.com - a yahoo merchant. As I live in the United Arab Emirates (Gulf, Middle East), I was requested to sign a form and fax it back to the merchant before my order would be processed. I did that; back in late May. My credit card was promptly charged $225 for the kit plus $210 for shipping. Yes, quite a lot, but I didn't mind cuz I thought I would get my product nice and quick. Well, it's been 2 months and I still don't have anything. No replies from the merchant; no positive replies from Yahoo because I signed a form which said that I basically can't get a refund under any circumstances.

My credit card issuer can't do anything either - because I signed - yes, very stupid of me, but I didn't expect this to happen because I've been buying stuff online for quite a while and nothing has ever gone wrong until now.

What I would like to know is if there is anything that I can do to either get my money back, or get my product. I figure CheapPerformance is some one man show company and the guy figures he can get away with this because I'm sitting half-way around the world and can't do anything to him - I would like to prove him wrong somehow. Can I complain to some central consumer rights authority? Sue him?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks a bunch,

JD

First of all, sorry to hear about that.

Second of all: damn. That's a lot to pay for shipping. I guess that's what happens when you live on the other side of the world.

Third of all, I don't know what you can do about the situation. Sounds like you signed your life away. At least you know not to get anything from there ever again.
