John Greenwood Stars and Stripes Corvette

I searched the forum and found a couple reviews on this kit so I thought I would share my build-up of it. Overall, it's a great kit with a few inaccuracies, some I fixed... and some I didn't.

I've been wondering why no one had built one of these yet. Looks pretty awesome, how do you think it'll go as a basis for modification?

looks superb!
I also like your tamiya wall on the background, I wish I was as organised.

Hey, could you take some outside shots please, and some more also (like of the engine and interior maybe)

Thanks!

Olivier

What s next BTW?

Re: John Greenwood Stars and Stripes Corvette

bloodhound, I think this kit would be pretty easy to modify. It could use a little better interior but what's here isn't too bad.

Oliver, There are a few more pics in my photo gallery, feel free to check them out (also shows my full work area). I still need to take more pics though because I have since added plug wires to the engine and a light wash to the panel lines. The pictures are before I did those things.

And next for me is the Monogram 1965 GT350R Mustang, currently in progress and then a Ferrari 360 Spyder.

Olivier, here's a couple more taken outside today. I'm not sure they're any better. I suck at photography.....

...there is nothing special about the interior of this car but there are pics in my album, click on "www" below.

The engine and the chassis...

Re: John Greenwood Stars and Stripes Corvette

Nice job. The outside pics are really nice. I've seen a few of these around lately? Is this a new kit (or recently re-issued)?

Re: John Greenwood Stars and Stripes Corvette

Beautiful build. That livery is great.

How were the decals in this kit? Did they react well to Microsol?

I'll have to pick this kit up to add to my racing 'Vette collection. After seeing those awesome headers and sidepipes, I may have to pick up a couple to 'borrow' those parts for a hot rod.

Hope to see you at the ACME meeting sunday!

Re: John Greenwood Stars and Stripes Corvette

Thanks everyone...

It's a new revell kit (last few months). Kind of a new issue -reissue. It was originally the Owens Corning Corvette but has been reworked a little for the Stars and Strpes release. The decals were great, they worked perfect and reacted well to microsol when needed which wasn't often. The decals are from Cartograph. The model sit a little high and had to be lowered. The front spoiler has to be scratch built and there should be fender flares on the front but aren't included. I still highly recommend the kit. It's a fun build and would be fairly easy to extra detail it if you wanted to.

Matt, I plan to be there (ACME) but can't stay long. I have family in town this weekend, some of which will probably come with me.
