crank the engine over a bit, then take off the fuel line where it bolts to the fuel pump, should get a little dribble of gas out of there at least! If you are, then it is your pump. Are you absolutely sure you arent getting fuel or is it just not firing? I have a visible element inline to my carb that lets me know positively that im getting fuel - a good investment IMO

not likely, they are mechanical and last forever. It could have gotten clogged if something got into the line when you changed the sending unit. Also, make sure if you have rubber lines anywhere, like from the sending unit to the fuel lines that they are not crimped that happend to me for the vent lines.
