2001 4wd service light - just bought it!!!

just bought a used 01 Tahoe 4wd TODAY after checking carfax and having a chevy dealer inspect it - two miles after I drove away from the dealer, the SERVICE 4WD light came on. other than hurting the dealer, any suggestions as to what I need to do or how much this might cost?

Lightbulb My Solution the the 4WD Service light

I had the same "serive 4WD" light come on as well. It was just as the factory warrenty went out. I left if alone for a year hoping it would go away, then I noticed the light on the 4WD buttons were were not working right either. I would have to push the buttons several times to get it to change from 4WD to 2WD. I called the Chevy parts dept. and they told me they have had bad switches on the 2001 4WD Tahoe's. I bought a new switch (which is the buttons you push on the dash). I paid $65 for the switch and put it on my self. It was simple! That was two years ago, and havent seen the "service 4WD" since. Good luck. Let me know if that fixes you problem. [email protected]
