low Idle

Both my 2000 Ford explorer and my 2000 Ford taurus want to idle at 500 rpm's Does anyone think this has something to do with the Iac valve? Or is it that I still have the original plugs and wires on both and they both have over 70,000 miles

Re: low Idle

in the throttle plate there is a bypass line that takes small amounts of gas so that a car will get gas when idling, this could be a clogged bypass line

sorry to tell ya but its time for a tune up buddy

original plugs and wires. I hope you,ve changed your oil. check your air filter too.

all this stuff is simply inexpensive stuff that can cause a drastic change for your engine if it has been a long time.

also might wanna check your pcv valve if your havent been keeping maintenence on your exploder.

good luck
