Unhappy HID Kit Problem

Whatup fellas (and ladies )

Heres the rundown: I bought a 6000K HID kit last summer (ebay special for about $275). It originally came with H1 bulbs which were changed to 9006 when I took out my projectors. Anyway, the whole thing worked fine up untill about three weeks ago when I saw one light was out. I tested all components on both sides and found out one of the ballasts was not working. I sent the kit back to the ebay guy who tested it and sent the same kit back to me saying all parts were tested and worked. Sure enough, I hooked the kit back up and both sides worked.

I chalked up the previous failure to being my own dumb fault hooking it up or something. So the next night, I'm rolling in the car, feelin good I got my lights back (I hate the stock yellows) and look in the reflection of a truck in front of me to see that the same side is out again . Now I'm pissed!!!

I email the guy who tells me to send it again (mind you I have to pay for s/h both ways on each trip). So I send it again with a typed explanation of what happened. I suggest that maybe the ballast fails after a certain period of time being connected. A week later, I get the kit back with a letter saying he tested the kit, left it overnight, and tested it again, it still worked. At this point he either thinks I'm crazy, stupid, or trying to scam him...or all three

I hook the kit back up, but this time, instead of letting the ballast sit in the car during the day, I unhook it, and leave it in the house and reconnect when it starts getting dark out. The next night, it works just fine. So now the kit works, but I gotta disconnect and reconnect it every day on one side (it gets pretty annoying).

So could it be the hot Florida sun baking the ballast all day that causes it to fail? Has anyone else heard of anything like this???
