Another transmission noise question.
Hello all.
I have a 2000 grand prix gtp. 55k miles. It just started making a loud rumble noise when in park or neutral only. In drive or reverse there is no noise and it runs and shifts fine. Any help is appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Another transmission noise question.
My first suspicion is a bad torque converter.

Re: Another transmission noise question.
Ditto. Also check to see if your exhaust is making contact anywhere. The engine can torque over a little in gear and may be moving it clear. Then in a no load situation it makes contact and a lot of noise. Had this happen to a Plymouth Volare I used to own. Good Luck.

Re: Another transmission noise question.
if it does a little "jump" while shifting to drive more than likely it is your torque converter this has happened to my 00 accord EX-V6-UL three time due to my bad driving habits
