problem with intake to bcs

Hey guys whats up? I was just curious if you need the nipple on the intake that connects the hoses to the bcs. Because recently my car got hit by some deuchbag and when the insurance fixed it up, they didnt fix the Injen intake pipe....the nipple is gone and all that is there is a hole. Please let me know. thanks in advance guys!

Re: problem with intake to bcs

I ran a BCS without connecting it to the intake pipe, but your problem is that you have unfiltered air entering your turbo/engine with that hole. If you fixed the hole... I wouldn't worry about it.

On the BCS side, you could leave it if it works fine (boost gauge, right?), or eliminate it with your next mod... the manual boost controller.

yea i just ordered my boost gauge, pillar pod, and mbc (took me two years but im close to having it)....but yea i heard that you dont even need the bcs anymore....my question is what do i do with the intake pipe and the hose that connects to the wastegate i believe.
So just cover the hole and ill be fine?

yes, that and the turbo pressure outlet nipple. see dsmtuners 'proper mbc install' for more.

Re: problem with intake to bcs

do you have any suggestions on what to cover the hole with? I was thinking about using regular scotch tape, but it sounds ghetto and kind of stupid...

For the outlet on the turbo, they make vacuum caps in an assorted box... the intake, well I have no idea. Wait.. yes I do, get a dejon intake!

Re: problem with intake to bcs

Dejon is still the best for simple pipes. I really dont like the flimsy flanges he uses though, so I wouldnt buy flanged parts from him. Great for pipes though, no doubt.

The only reason that line runs from the BCS to the intake is because the emissions pussies are afraid of that minute amount of air that escapes from that line will take out 10 million trees. Its not needed. But you dont want a hole in the intake pipe for sure. Wagon mentioned that unfiltered air will enter there, but more importantly, its unmetered air. In this case there is a vacuum (not boost, since its before the turbo) so you will pull air in, resulting in a leaner condition.
