1997 Tibby

I think my Tibby may nead new shocks/struts/springs, or something. This thing does not grip the road at all. It's treacherous in rain and snow.
Does anybody know how to check to see if these need replaced? How much would it cost?

Ummm....how bad are your tires?

The tires are bad.
Even with new tires, the car is all over the road!
Even in dry conditions, you hit a ripple in the road and almost lose control.
The tires wear out in 15,000 miles or less.

your best bet for the $ is to get Tokico performance kit. their AWSOME. they total replacements for your struts, and springs. they'll set you back about $390 or so. you can get 5 level ajustables struts for 100 more. the only deal is, their pring rates kind suck. im not sure what they are on the tib, but on my eclipse their ony 285 / 160 ..GAY..

youre the first person ive ever heard complain about the tibby's handling.

anyway, definately make sure you have some good tires. i have some goodyear eagle rs-a(ok tires, great in snow though)

im pretty sure getting some good tires will fix your problem. but if you want, you could try getting some kyb struts/shocks from tirerack.com and some eibach springs off ebay. cheap fix. if youre looking to spend more money, post up and ill dig up some REALLY good suspension setups for you.

i can vouch for him about the handiling. i had brand new toyo tires on in the winter, and it was like i was ice skating if there was any sort of snow. it skidded off the road numerous times.

something often overlooked is tire pressure either tooooo high or toooo low

it can make a good suspension feel bad
and a worn out suspension seem undrivable

in the winter? im guessing that they were not all season tires. you put summer tires through snow, any car will skid.

winter tires would definately help. but i love doin doughnuts, but it sucks on every turn i make, i fishtail. learn to love it.lol

yeah... sliding into a curb.. or other car is cool
jus get a 240sx or a 2nd gen rx7 and learn to drift....you can find soem nice ones for cheap
