for the cheap supras buyers

It seems like everytime you visit the trading post forum there is always someone looking for a cheap supra. Why not buy a lexus sc and swap in a 2jz engine it would be cheaper?

Re: for the cheap supras buyers

The reason is because they won't be able to afford that car either, ontop of that they wouldn't be able to maintain or mod the car if they did get it. Plus Lexus doesn't have that all important "jap supercar" image here like the MKIV does. Anyone not willing to pay what a car is worth is dreaming, which means it's not going to happen. Why swap in a 2jz engine when it already has one, SC300? You mean the 2jz-gte?

i know a couple of people that have gotten the sc300 and have bolted up the n/a - turbo conversion...the sc's are usually cheaper than a mkiv but if you get a n/a mkiv and do the conversion it will proably be about the same amount of money as doing the same thing w/ the sc...so i agree w/ mk3...now if you want the status of driving a supra...but dont have the money for a mkiv...you can usually find mkiii's for around 3500-4500...and the 7m can be a good strong motor...as long as you slap a good strong hg on it. lol

LOL @ the "status" of driving a Supra if you get an MKIII, that only works with MKII/III owners and the few people who know what it's capable of, everyone else will only be dissapointed when they hear you don't have an MKIV even if it does have 700hp. I've heard it many times as well as countless others,
me: "yea I just drive my Supra"
them: "OHH A SUPRA?!"
me: pointing over to it...
them: "Oohh you drive THAT Supra" (in a dissapointed voice)
me:
I'm sorry but if I can't possibly understand why anyone would "settle" for an MKIII or any other car that applies because they can't get what they really want, your only going to abuse or ruin it for someone else in the future. I guess my rant is over for the night

but does the opinion of people who not know what a mkii or mkiii is capable of really matter? most of the people that say that are just little ricers anyway.

my buddy with the supra that is in my sig rolled into town today and its like everyone in this area converged on his house...then a guy w/ a mkiii rolled in the yard and the exhaust sounded very nice so we all knowing that a mkiii can be just as fast and strong as a mkiv ran out to have a looksie under the hood. it was running a turbonetics 60-1 and had just gotten a jspec 7m-gte with a complete rebuild for holding maximum boost...this thing was amazing and hella clean.

i for one can respect the mkiii and all of its potential...hell i want one to have a boosted and rwd car to get started in and then build up and get used to the crazy ass amounts of power little by little. i wouldnt care that its the older body style, i think they still look good and i would baby, wash, and wax that thing every week! because it would be my supra! i was told by my friend that drives a del sol s that i shouldnt get a mkiii shearly because i would be sacrificing looks for performance... i was like, you drive a del-slooooooooowwwww! what the hell do you know about performance?!
