Autometer Cobalt Air/Fuel gauge

Autometer Cobalt Air/Fuel gauge: Just got it installed. The sensor lights on the gauge that indicate mixture tendency light up and work, but the gauge face BACKLIGHT (supposed to glow blue) does not. He says he did everything he could but it doesnt operate. Faulty gauge or am I missing something?

do you have a wire tester? touch that baby to the power feed. make sure powers are good, then check your ground. 80% ground problems.

Re: Autometer Cobalt Air/Fuel gauge

turn your lights on... if this installer had any common sense he installed it to your dash lights! another thing is did you check the bulb to make sure it isnt burnt out?

Re: Autometer Cobalt Air/Fuel gauge

hmm....i bet its the bulb that shorted...he hooked up all the other gauges prefectly. so if the bulb did short, do i need a new gauge or is the bulb replaceable?

Re: Autometer Cobalt Air/Fuel gauge

I'm not positive that the cobalt A/F gauge lights up....are you sure? My ultralight doesn't glow, just has the flashing lights. I know the lunar A/F guage does light up however. Make sure that it is supposed to light up before you rip the installation apart !

Re: Autometer Cobalt Air/Fuel gauge

i have the cobalt air fuel gauge and the led that moves back and forth to indicate the mixture lights up red, yellow and green. As for the rest of the gauge the only other part that lights up is the word "cobalt" and "air fuel ratio". Rich, lean and Stoich do not light up. However i think that they should. There could be something wrong with the gauge itself because i know it is wired the right way and works accurately.

Re: Autometer Cobalt Air/Fuel gauge

Oh my gawd..hang on a second...I do not think that this gauge lights up (backlight for entire gauge-face)! I too have the lights on, indicating mixutre levels etc..but thats it, nothing else lights up, not even the word COBALT or AIR FUEL RATIO. I though the entire thing glowed blue. damn it.

Thanks RS-T...I think I will try a new bulb on the damn thing..
