New To 88's. I Very Badly Need Advice.

I'm 19, and i just traded in my 96 Mustang Gt for an 94 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale. It's got 93,000 miles on it. With a tune up and a flush, do you think this car could make it on a sensable road trip from Chicago, IL to Vancouver Canada (4,000 miles Round Trip)???????? The trip is to take place in a few weeks so, please, someone get back to me. Thanks.

Also, i'm unfamiliar with Oldsmobiles...what's the average lifespan of a well maintained car as such??

I owned a 1990 88 and put 213k miles on it before trading it in.

The Olds has the same basic systems as the Ford - could you have checked your Ford for a trip?? If so, you can check out the Olds!! Average lifespan, if PROPERLY maintained, is 200,000 to 300,000 miles. Plus, you should be able to get around better in winter!!

If you maintain it properly 200k is not unheard of,I have two a 98 & 95 and love um the most consistant running cars I ever owned and I'm 60.

Hey I'm glad to read about the life span of an 88 Olds being 200-300k miles, my 95 Olds 88 LSS has a "mere" 120,000, hell it's a spring chicken. The car is rock solid and runs great, only had minor problems thus far, knock on wood, but at this rate, with one kid in college, I can't see getting rid of this jewel only to spend $30-40K on something else, this is money in the bank.

Hey. Thanks for the advice, i flushed the radiator, got an oil change, a tune up, and crossed my fingers as i drove from chicago, to Vancouver. 4,000 miles later, i'm back home, and the car is still running great. Even w/o an oil change. (i'm getting one asap.) but, after all was said and done, i've got a new found trust for my olds.

Glad you made it but an oil change on time is what keeps those things alive longer. Also a transmission filter and fluid change on schedule can save you some real heartache.
