Integra Maintenance Costs?

Im in need of a car but my dad thinks he has a say in what i should get. He wants me to get a Corolla something cheap to get around, I particularly want an Integra. He said the maintenance and parts cost would probably be too much for an acura, whereas the corolla is very reliable and the parts are very cheap. The budget is $5,000. Someone help me prove my dad wrong about the integra maintenance costs, and the reliability is probably the same if not better then the corolla right?

P.S. a corolla is a f*cking sissy car lol

corlla sucks

i got 280,000 miles on my intgera and have done little maintain on it other then regular oil change standerd stuff and it runs like a champ i really will be suprized if a corlla can get passed 100,000 without having major repairs needed. Tell your father that honda's are the most reliably rides out there.

parts are actually the cheapest. they are the same parts for honda's too. i mean parts for the corrola are pretty cheap and it is the same for the integra. and if you learn how to do this stuff yourself, it will be that much cheaper. like i did my own engine swap and saved myself about $1k.

Hondas and toyotas are practically identical when it comes to reliability and cost. I however prefer hondas exterior styling, and their interior styling as well. As far as I'm concerned a corollas interior is just as cheap as my old neon's.

The only place toyota has honda beat is sound level. Hondas tend to have alot more road noise than toyotas.

Thumbs up

Crap ON Corollas! Integralover is right, Acura parts are just as cheap as toyotas and we all know that Honda makes one of the most reliable cars out there, they take care of you even if you dont take care of them(for the most part) but for really tho, the tegi is a whole lot more reliable than most cars made my toyota. parts are cheap and repairs are def affordable. Just dont take it to the acura man unless you have to.

and as a side note, i picked up my teg for $3,800 with 85k miles on it, in Excellent condition, so its def in your range

Integras are todays equivalent of yesterdays "small block chevys". Parts and performance gear is abundent and affordable. When taken care of, Integras will run forever. Critical at 90K is the timing belt package which includes water pump replacement - make sure it was done on anything over 100K. A well-maintained Integra is a terrific first car, and for $5K you should be able to find a solid 94 LS (Gen II).

back on topic:

I got my 93 gs-r for 2400. it had 139,000 on it. now she has a little over 160000 is is still just as reliable as ever.

anyway very cheap to maintain, fun to drive, and affordable (cost/gas/repair/insurance wise) cars and well worth your dad to look into.

my dad sells hondas for a living, toyota and hondas/acuras will run forever if taken care of, i think your dad is basing his thoughts on the fact that a brand new acura is gonna be more expensive than a comparable toyota because acura is hondas more luxorious(spelling?) counterpart, and yes the acura is gonna be much faster than the corolla so your dad probly has your saftey as concern also, the price of parts depends on where you get them, you can definately get a nice integra for 5k or less, mine is a 94 ls, it had 160k miles on it when i got it and was $2500, it was maintained as far as timing belts, water pump, and oil, the basic stuff, however the interior is kind of stained, look around

Re: Integra Maintenance Costs?

You could always get an old RWD Corolla like the classic AE86 Tureno (or "sprinter"). Then your dad would be happy cause it's a "cheaper" Corolla, and you would be happy cause you had a kick ass car, purpose built for auto-x and drift.
