OK, I've got all the tinting on all the windows besides the rear-view window removed. Went pretty good, took me a while though. What I'm wanting to know is a good way to remove the tint from the rear-view window without phucking up the defroster lines. Anyone know how to do that? Also, what are the two electrical joints on the side of the windows?

Re: Tint removal help
Removing tint is the biggest bitch in the world. I should know, I do it for a living. And of course, the hardest and messiest of all is the back window. I would start by removing the deck lid (you know, the carpet on top of the speakers) then peel the film off as I'm sure you did on the rest of the windows. Then soak the shi* out of the window with some sort of glass cleaner (provided it has ammonia in it, Zep works really good) or fill a spray bottle up with Isopropyl alcohol and water (about half and half and make sure you have some good ventilation cause that shi* will make you sick fast. Then after you've soaked in it whatever, get one of those plastic scrubbers that people use for washing dishes. Scrub the window and scrub some more. Clean the loose glue off with paper towels or whatever and do the whole thing again as many times as it takes. After you're done with that, very carefully, using a razorblade, scrape any excess glue of the window in between the defroster lines. That should leave it nice and clean and ready for retinting. To answer you're next question, those electrical things are for the defroster. If all of that stuff fails, take it to a professional like me and make me do it (you bastard, just kidding). Good luck.

Re: Tint removal help
Haha, thanks for the info. Actually today, I tried doing something close to what you told me to do, but I had a steam cleaner instead and thought I would use that instead, but guess what... just before I started I took a look at it again and tried scraping the tint with a razorblade and... no tint... hmm. Well it seems that one of the previous owners with the car tried removing the tint off of the rear window... along with the defrosters :wall , while doing so he phucked up the defrosters and scratched the deck... props for that guy.. not.

Re: Tint removal help
Since you're in that related industry, how much would it cost to get a new one?

Re: Tint removal help
that is something i unfortunately do not know about. my best guess would probably be around 300 to 500 bucks, sorry to say. but who knows, it could be way less or way more. you'll have to find that out. sorry one again.

Re: Tint removal help
Thanks for your help, I got the windows tinted. Not too bad for a $120 job, could be better, could be worse.
