Does anybody think this would work???
I was just wanting to get some opinions on this "electric turbo",it says it ads 20-30 HP,I dont think those results are realistic but would it help at all? Here's the link.....

you'd think that if this were actually a dependable and worthwhile mod, we would see alot more of it. who knows... i'd try it, for free, don't know if i would chance 80 bucks on it...

wait a minute, how can it call itself a turbo at all, even electric? turbochargers by definition are spooled up by exhaust gas. while superchargers by definition are spooled by the engine itself... so what the hell could u actually call this thing? electrocharger? maybe shockcharger? or maybe even idontfuckingworkcharger? oh well, i'll prolly hear some ricer tellin me about it and how it makes him the fastest thing on earth in a couple days...

Re: Does anybody think this would work???
im pretty sure that your engine flows 400 cfm operating normally. i dont feel like running the numbers but im pretty sure that it does, meaning this is a retarded idea...

Re: Does anybody think this would work???
There are electric fans out there that put out MORE than enough air to forcedly induct air into your engine, that could be controlled via reostat. the problem is that you need a very good source of 110v at least to run the thing. Getting that in a car, without having to do way more than it's worth is the problem. And then getting it into a platform that people will believe in and buy, that'll be though. Like hypsi87 said, it's probably not going to work. Too many unknowns, way too many.

Re: Does anybody think this would work???
my thing is that this thing is just a fan, it doenst compress the air at all, just flows more. so youre not going to get the turbo results, dont even know why they consider it a turbo...

Ok here is one reason why it won't work.... Just incase someone wants to argure with me. Have you noticed that a turbocharger is kina shaped like a snail shell? Well that is because the turbocharger compresses the air inside the housing using precision machined compressor wheel agenst the compressor at a tight tolerance
for example... ![]() you see how the compressor wheel (boxed in red) is taperd? Well the small part of the wheel (what you can see from the outside of the turbo) is called the inducer. The larger part of the wheel (the part that is in the the compressor housing. The inducer grabs the air (represented by pink lines) sitting in the inlet bell (represented by the green area) and channels through the fins to the exducer. The exducer then throws the air against the compressor housing (Shown in red with white spots.) As the air is thrown against the compressor housing the air behind (Represented in blue) it pushes the air even harder, hence compression. Then the compressed air exits out the outlet bell So compression, (Which a turbocharger does) happens inside the turbocharger. Exhaust is shown in brown but we all know how that works. Now lets look at the "Eleteric turbocharger" ![]() all the air does is go throug a fan which is the same side and the blades are at the same angle. No compression. A turbocharger does not change your engines airflow number like everyone thinks they do. To do that, a turbo would have to be a pressure adder. Well a turbo is a pressure muliplier, it changes the air density (Weight) If you take 300 CFM at atmospheric pressure and then increase the pressure to 15 PSI of boost, it is still 300 CFM. Take 300 CFM to 90 PSI of boost, its still 300CFM. Boost will not affect an engine's CFM output but, CFM will affect boost pressures. take 20 PSI of boost at 250CFM then increase the CFM flow to 500 your boost will drop to 10 PSI because of less restriction. Even on the flip side, take the 250 CFM and drop it to 125 CFM and your boost will increase 40 PSI. Boost is pressure and pressure is caused by restriction. So boost is the measurement of air that you don't use ![]() (I put all that in to clarify as to why this will not work on a engine car engine that flows well over the 100 CFM range
