Alright, here's a tough one.
My car has alarm and kill switch. I went to get remotes. They said my kill switch should have a sping back. It doesn't. Now my car will not come on because the kill switch (they say is broken) has kill all power and won't start. I took off boot from spark plug and still no fire. I was trying to find a fuse diagram. Does anyone have one for an 88 gt. The kill switch has three position one offf on and now the car with not crank. Boy am I hot. Nothing was wrong with my car until trying to get remote controls. Can you help with links? suggestions? anything?

what kind of alarm do you have because no GM alarm does what you are saying except maybe VATS. Do you have a black chip in the key?

my buddy had the same problem with his 2002 Camaro Z28. It wouldn't start or anything. He replaced the starter, battery, and wires... still nothing. The alarm "kill switch" is LITERALLY a metal switch that you can physically turn on or off. GM calls it a "vallet switch" for some reason. It is most likely under your dashboard on the driver's side right near the fusebox by the steering column. My buddy felt really stupid when we told him that all he had to do was flip the switch for the car to become "unbroken." He let his girlfriend drive it and she accidentally flipped the switch with her knee when she was trying to get out of the car. It looks like a really cheap all-metal flip switch. Just look for it somewhere under the dash and I'm sure you'll fix the problem

I'm not aware of Passlock/Passlock II or any other GM factory anti theft system being available for the Fiero. It's probably an aftermarket alarm, and possibly an old one at that. Even if you can figure out the make/model of the alarm, you're probably gonna have trouble getting parts for it. The best thing you can do is just hack out the black box (usually under the dash) and solder the ignition harness back together the way it belongs. (Just match color for color) Not to state the obvious, but if this is the only fix that'll do the job, you're gonna need a new alarm.

Then again, maybe your ship hasn't sunk just yet. Can you specify any more detail about this "kill switch"?? Like where it's located, what it looks like, how it operates? There may be a simple fix here.

Dude, I sell and service just about all aftermarket and oem alarms out there and what your buddy had was some sort of add on alarm/starter kill. That is in no way OEM by any means. On his car he would have the old VATS style alarm that has a black chip in the key.

Ragtop, yeah me neither but it was worth bringing up. I am not too familar with Fieros much anymore but do know that a number of GM cars started having VATS in the late 80's so I thought maybe that was on this car????

The "OEM kill switch" comes stock only on newer BOTTOM OF THE LINE camaro Z28s. And I'm sure of that for a fact. Once you start adding power windows and other trim acessories GM for some reason stops putting the switch on those cars. I don't know why this is so but that's how it is. Dont' believe me go on to camaroz28.com and ask

It's a clifford alarm with the kill under dash. I disconnected the battery for 20 minutes and let the computer reset itself and now it's running. But hell, I'm kinda scared to drive far because it might shut down. It has yet, but I ordered a spring kill switch to replace that one. It's a clifford alarm 904010 or maybe just 9040. I was just trying to get remotes cuz if you bump the car it goes the heck off and you got to use the key to kill the noise. For right now I am just using the gorilla club.

No black chip in key. just black coated gm key. It's a silver supposing to be spring back with 3 position on off on. I can get parts I found the manufactor. I talk to the sobs and they gonna send me another switch. Hopefully soon.

Props to you for finding parts!!! I tired to replace the remote control for the CD player in my Buick and it was on backorder for a f**king year.

ponchonutty: You're right, GM's passlock system came out in the late 80's, my Sister's 88 Camaro had it. It was used only on models that had a high risk of being stolen. (Nobody wanted to steal Fieros? I don't know if that's a relief or an insult?????)

Useless trivia: Prior to the release of GM's resistor-in-the-key passlock system, there was another factory anti-theft system. To arm and disarm it you inserted the key (door, I think - might have been ignition though) Into a lock cylinder mounted on the driver's side fender and turned it.

Crude but effective, you see a lot of these on older Corvettes. Chrome plated and a match to the door locks, it looks pretty bitchin' and gives the car character. I think Imma put one on my Fiero just for looks.
