Alright, your first car? Sweet, the first is always what you remember most. Possibly because you cherish how much that first taste of freedom truely makes your heart feel. ::Remembers his neon.. that he kept... and still has.. ::
Now, about performance. Really, Hp isn't the only factor in performance, theres alot to factors in getting a car including torque, parts (you don't want stock parts that are known to break often), cost, maintenance, ect.. I'm not the expert on cars, but I know that the other people here will tell you the same. Don't let Hp fool you, its just one of many factors. As for wich models are best? Well, I like my old reliable. my 1995 dodge neon Highline 4 door has taken soooo many beatings (my old friends, well, I can put it this way: I don't have them anymore.) and never let me down. Since it IS your first, I suggest something like this, an old reliable car that you KNOW is going to be there when you need it most. After that, get a car you can work on, that you don't need to get you to work if you blow the transmission on the track. Believe me, you'll be much happier having one car you can rely on and one you can play with when you see your friends saying "I can't do fillintheblank because I'm leaking oil two quarts at a time".

Re: How does the neon perform
dont fuck up, thats my advise, just drive the car, buy another one later and play with that one, its not good to fully build your daily driver, and neons are good for daily driving and racing, but not too many people know how to make them do both. but i sure can

Since he said it. Who has the neon with the most power? How much power? Also with hahn racecraft is that how much power the turbos give you or is that how much they can with stand? I was on the org and saw a sig that said Hahn stage four and like 386 hp but they says like 400 somethn.

From what I understand about turbo systems they don't actually add 2xx or 3xx horse power, thats simply examples of what it might bring your hp up to. Commonly a turbo will add between 20 and 75 hp depending on the type you use as well as the pressure you set it to and what your car can handle.
DISCLAIMER: I know a little about turbos, however don't go taking this as god given word, as I'm sure there are plenty of other people in the forum capable of fielding this question better. I am simply attempting to give you a quick response to at least part of the question.

Re: How does the neon perform
get a neon for your first car is a good idea. You are most likely to get in an accident during your first 2 years of driving, and why spend alot of money on a car your have a good chance of crashing? not to mention speed and no driving skills dont mix. . .

Re: How does the neon perform
If your getting your first car, I would guess your fairly young. The last thing you need to do is get in over your head.
Neon perform well enough and handle well enough to put the average or newbie driver in alot of trouble fast. Take your time, learn the car. That will take at least a year. Then come back and ask what you need to do to get more performance out of the car. Depending on budget you can build a Neon to outrun just about anything, so don't concern yourself with how much power can be made, because its more than you can currently handle, even if I was talking just strictly bolt-ons and a cam(s). Good Luck |
