The Fast and the Furious Mitsubishi Eclipse progress

my first progress thread... i think

i got a AMT ERTL The Fast and the Furious Eclipse today for 1/2 price . i dont have any pics cuz i dont have a digicam... o wait... i do... an old one tho. ill see if i can find it and take some pics .

Anyways... so far i:
- cut the vents out of the side of the front bumper
- painted the turbo, manifold(?), and some other things silver
- masked the seats for painting
- did the fire extinguisher and NOS bottle
- put some of the spoiler together

ill try and get some pics up.

Everything looks great except you missed a mold line. Dont forget to sand them!

awesome work...and I wish you the best of luck cause depending on how picky you are, it might be ruff getting to luck how you want it. If you're somewhat new to the hobby, please don't let this one kit ruin it for you.

Re: The Fast and the Furious Mitsubishi Eclipse... no pics

i havent really sanded anything yet... i have 100(?) grit sandpaper but it leaves these huge scratch marks so im gonna pick up some later.

im also not too new to this hobby. i started with:
- Tamiya Ferrari 360 Modena(yellow version)
- Tamiya Ferrari F50
- Tamiya Toyota Supra
- Tamiya Mercedes Benz CLK DTM 2000 Team D2
- and now im on the Eclipse

the problem was that the first three were before i came to this forum and i didnt know anything. so the first one had no paint(added some on later), second one was with a big brush(3 colors), and the 3rd one was also 3 colors but with a smaller brush and i didnt paint the body.

^100 grit sandpaper is WAY too abrasive for sanding bodies. I use 800 grit from the testors sanding films. They are only like 1.19 everywhere.

100 grit is overkill.. it shouldn't be near any modeller box.

The biggest I have is 320 for putty work then 400, 600, 800 and 1500
all of them cost about 0.40$ at hardware store

Those scratches can be taken out with some FINER sand paper. It will be alot of work but it is possible.

personally i use 100 grit for cleaning up marks from the tree. I then sand progressively from 280-800 and that usually clears it up.
