Oil Change
I just had an oil change and filter change done at my local Jiffy Lube.
I am curious. Should I have a odor which smells like oil after doing like 70 miles and hour on the highway home from work because it is new oil? Or is it something else? I don't smell it when I run the a/c and stop but if the air is on and I stop I have an odor. Thanks. |

Re: Oil Change
I would check for leaks around the filter or drain plug. If some oil spilled from fliter change, it might smell for a little while, but not very long

Re: Oil Change
welll i would think they woudl clean up any oil spilled and a large chain like jiffy lube. and no you shouldnt smell oil, you probaly have a leak somewhere, i mean i drove a 83 surpa for a year and a bit, and i spilled a pool of oil on my block and i never smelled it, so you muust have a leak near o ne of your vents... there is not much else it ould be.

Re: Oil Change
a person i know had her Saturn's oil changed at a Jiffy Lube and they used the wrong filter, and needless to say, the oil leaked out & her motor burned up... so they had to replace that. So just make sure your not leaking due to their negligence

Re: Oil Change
I used to work at a Jiffy Lube, and they get oil all over everything when they're draining it. Sometimes repeat customers would come in, and you could still smell the oil burning from the previous change.
