Question Spinning bearings??

I am a new owner of a 94 4runner with just over 100k on it. I am thinking about changing over to synthetic, but the guy at Checkers told me that it may "spin my bearings". I am no mechanic, so I have no idea what the h--l this guy is talking about. Please advise as to what he means and also if there is any validity to his concern.

By the way. There is no real reason that I am switching over other than all of the great things that I have heard about synthetics and I want this rig to last as long as I can.

Thanks

Re: Spinning bearings??

He doesn't have any idea what the h--l he's talking about either. Synthetic oil is the best you can buy. Whether you see a difference in your engine is a whole another topic.

A friend of his friend probably used synthetic oil and then went out and trashed his engine racing it or something - then blamed it on the oil. You can only spin a bearing if you run out of oil altogether or it becomes so old that it won't circulate.

Don't worry about your bearings.
