injen filter
hey guys, i asked this already over in the honda forums but no one over there could comment or reply so i figured no one had one. ok, so i just bought a new injen intake filter for my short ram and im not too familiar with with them(intakes) perfmance-wise. so after using it i thought it was incredible but then i tried my brothers generic filter that came with his ebay intake kit and oddly, it seemed to work just as well...if not better. i am missing something or isnt there spose to be a diff between a 5dollar filter and a $49 injen????

Re: injen filter
oh okay b/c ive heard both sides of this. some ppl say all the piping is the same but the filter makes all the diff. in the world. then some like u say all intakes r the same. shit...i feel ripped off....

Re: injen filter
There is more to the filter then preformance you want to make sure it still FILTERS.

I dunno if you get an AEM or Injen or whatever, it is basically gonna be the same idea as if you go to auto zone and buy a cheap ass one, but there is more than that. I had an AEM short ram intake in my integra before, i think they use K&N filters, it seemed to be pretty good, it gave an awesome intake sound. Personally I would get a decent brand because its got the carb # and all that shit and overall its probably gonna be a little better.

Re: injen filter
K&N seems to be the popular choice...best filtration and power gain.
BTW, what intake pipe do you have, OEM or aftermarket one? |

Re: injen filter
There is minimal difference in flow between various filters...you don't notice much a difference because the filter only adds a nominal amount of horsepower anyway, so the difference between filters is one or two hp (unless your car is making ridiculous amounts of hp). Let this be a learning experience: just because you've heard of the brand name doesn't mean something more generic can't be as good.

Re: injen filter
yea that's true. i used to have an aem intake in my old civic (what was i thinking. honduh) and then i got one from autozone and tried to feel the diffderence and i didnt get none. they both were the same. both gave me a little more hp tiny. and better gas mileage also. thats why i have the autozone filter on my gs.

Re: injen filter

Re: injen filter
it adds so little horsepower near stock that you aren't going to notice between a 5hp cheap filter and 7hp injen.

Haha i know most of em add literally about 4 hp at the wheels, oh well. In some cases on dyno tests i've seen from stock cars, an aem or injen intake or something is added and it can add as little as 2 hp.

Re: injen filter
so i suggest next time juss buy the generic ones. not much of a diff unless u juss want the brand and the carb exemption.
