noma vs neon
Well, im new to this site...but i need to show you the almighty power(ahahah) of my sonoma...its a bone-stock 95, 2.2L, 5 speed. i pulled up at a light here in town coming home from work. this ratty ass neon pulled up right next to me, with this older mexican gentlemen driving this torque monster. he revved it up, and i just about cracked a rib trying not to laugh. ive been driving standards for about 5 years, and just messing around with my friends racing at his house for about the same time. (he has a 69 mach 1, and i drove his moms stang...both 4 speed.(i never won, but i got shifting down and good control...that was basically the whole point)) so he revs it up, brake lights shining, so i assumed it was an auto, which was a correct assumpton...the light goes green, and we both pull off...i had revved my engine to 4.5k rpms..this engine has 155k miles on it, so i dont want to push it to redline...we pull off, and i get second, third and fourth...somehow, by gods anger at me pushing this almost dead engine, i miss fifth!! anyhow, we were runnin even, and i managed to tie with the guy, we stop at the next light, and we are both laughing...he waves at me, and takes his left. i now realize my dream of acquiring a 240sx or a 300zx is something i need to fullfill asap. sorry this was so long, but, yeah, it was super dramatic...haha, thanks for listening to me.

Hey, it's all gravey.
We all had to start somewhere... and not all of us started with nice canvas either... So no worries. Get the Z!... Get the Z! Z32 300zxTT, really nice car. But just make sure you buy one that's been maintained. Although 240sx's are nice cars, tons of stuff you can do to those.

If you're thinking of buying a Z32 300ZX TT, get a '95 or later. A guy I know bought a '92, and I've helped him to tune the thing, and it's been a headache trying to piece together a fuel system to support 600+hp.
That being said, with some fuel upgrades, gutted cats and a decent air intake, you can push about 420hp from a VG30DETT. If you go the GT28 route, you can be reliably making about 600hp at the crank on pump gas. The major advantage of a 95+ car at that point is being able to use the bolt on Nismo 740cc injectors, instead of having to buy something like the Border 850cc kit, or scour junkyards for later intake manifolds and fuel rails.

ive been looking all over for a 300zxtt...but on ebay, im not even sure anymore about if those prices are even legitamate...i have a hefty amount of cash to spend on a project car/daily driver...but i just dont want to get shafted. its either me buying a 300zx, or doing an engine conversion, a 350v8, to power my sonoma. i have read some about this in the noma forum, but i figured since id be just messin around with my friends and such, street racing, id post it here. well, total for the whole engine swap and buildup of the v8, itd be about 3-4k. if 300zx is a better idea, or cheaper, i might do that. i dont have enough for both. id appreciate any suggestions, and ill post more of my adventures(ha) in here, just to update yall on it. im 17...and any information yall could provide would be much thanked...i love to learn. later guys.
**i forgot to mention i have about 8k dollars. i want to spend about 4k on the car, and use the rest to build it up.** |

Why give up on a truck! Get a GMC Syclone or Typhoon and trust me you won't have to worry about any neons. You'll move up to a much higher class of competition. Rice and Domestic rice will be a thing of the past, think more a long the lines of Vettes and Vipers etc.

First off, a Syclone and Typhoon are expensive to buy into. Second, they're hard to locate cause of limited production. Third, he's a kid... that fast of a vehicle is a bit dangerous. Plus Insurance companies aren't as stupid as they used to be. But they are cool trucks that's for sure.

these trucks are nifty, ill give that to em, but they run more than a 30zxtt!! also, i bet insurance would eat me alive. i need to find a decent non-forced induction vehicle...naturally aspirated isnt bad, but i would boost it later...when i had the cash..im thinkin 240sx, or a 300zx non turbo...maybe even non turbo rwd eclipse...or is the gst Fwd? i just want a decent car i can mod...hell, an accord, but id prefer RWD. any suggestions? like i said, i have 8k, but id only like to spend 4-5k. ill spend more if i have to, but i want to have a few months of insurance saved up.

Re: noma vs neon
I would imagine 15k or more for the cyclone/typhoons, very awesome trucks/suv. 0-60 about 5.5.
That's for a running one in good shape, you could probably spend less, like 8-10k for one that needs a little work. They won't go cheap, kind of like Grand National's they'll always hold a value. |

I agree finding a Syclone/Typhoon would be a bit hard. It took me awhile to find mine but I ended up with a Syclone for about 13k with only 43,000 miles on it. I think the people selling it knew it was fast but didn't know it was rare. I lucked out with my insurance company being dumb they have the truck listed as a Sonoma not a Syclone. The Syclone is a bit quicker than 0-60 in 5.5s though its closer to 4.3s and the 1/4 with a good launch is close to about 13s.
