service engine light
I have a 98 Grand Caravan SE that has about 120,000 miles but runs fine. However, the "service engine soon" light has been on for a while now. I can't tell that anything sounds or looks out of place.
Is there an easy way to figure out what is causing the light to remain on without taking it to a dealership or mechanic? Thanks! |

Re: service engine light
Turn the ignition switch on and on three times on the third time leave the switch on and it will flash the codes showing what the problem is. Write the codes down and do an internet search for Chrysler codes. You will be able to determine your next step without taking it to a mechanic. 55 indicates end of codes!

ok..I did that and it would never give me any codes...I tried it a bunch of times...
I read another post that said something about disconnecting a post from the battery for a minute or two to get the light to cut off if the code thing didn't work...I tried that and it went off for a short time, then came back... Any ideas? |

Re: service engine light
That will work to clear the codes from the computer however if there is an ongoing problem the light will come back on as soon as the problem is detected as you are aware. You might want to take the van to Autozone, they will scan the computer for free and let you know what the codes are. Sorry the above idea didn't work.
