Stalling when put into reverse
Did some searching but most of the "TCC" stalling threads invovled stalling while driving. What happens in my case is the stall will occur just after starting the car and then putting it into reverse. It doesn't do it all the time, more of a once in a while thing (once a week to once every couple weeks). No problems putting it in drive. Anyway, I just want to take care of the problem before it gets worse. Also what's the typical cost of the replacement part?
Thanks ![]() I suppose I've also noticed something else that may or may not be related. While driving under hard acceleration or when letting up off the gas sometimes the car will buck as if the tranny is shifting really hard. I've probably answered my own question, but I just want to be sure. |

Do you let the car run for a minute or so before you put it in reverse?
And the bucking sounds like your tranny's almost shot. Take it to a tranny shop and have them look at it. It wouldnt hurt the change the fluid though. |

Re: Stalling when put into reverse
yeah I've been meaning to change the tranny fluid and filter for some time now. just been too busy rebuilding my rebuilt 13b
![]() And to answer your question I'm usually in a hurry to get to work in the morning and don't let it warm up for more than 10 seconds. But I recall going to the bar once and it stalled on me after only having been there an hour. But I guess the car had plenty of time to cool down at this point. I hope the tranny isn't going out. Car only has 95k on her for a 1990 |
