LS VTEC Turbo
I was wondering, is anyone running an LS/VTEC turbo? Im looking to build that kinda car up right now, cept im stuck on what head to get. See B18's are easier to find but i was told they have more overlap in the cams while the B16 will give me less compression and has a better cam for turbo. Is this true?

Re: LS VTEC Turbo
Nothing wrong with GSR cams, and ITR cams are even better still. The whole "overlap is bad for turbo" bullshit has been way way way overdone on here. It's true, you don't want to run something like TODA Vtec Killers with 305 degrees of duration in your car, but a bump up in duration and lift by going to GSR or ITR cams will make more power with your turbo, without a doubt. If HKS makes camshafts for Turbo Supras, Turbo MR2's, and Turbo DSM's that have more duration than stock honda ITR cams, why do people think that a bit more duration is bad for turbo?
GSR and B16 heads flow very similarly stock, and flow very similarly when ported. The compression ratio change is minute, so in your case I would recommend a GSR head with the bigger GSR cams, or even better yet an ITR head if you can get one at a good price. |
