Can anyone help me??

Okay I was driving down the road....im at a red light....I had my foot on the brake ...then about 15 seconds later....my 1993 chevy cav automatic, just stalled out.....so basically i just found out when i shift it in to drive or reverse it stalls out right away with out doing anything but having the engine kind of jump under the hood.....but neutral works.....

<<I already disconnected I think all of the wires at seprate times from the transmission to see if it would start and that did not work.......I heard my transmission could have locked or it could be an electrical problem....does anyone know wut the electricall problem could be to save me time or.....is it something totally different??/?

Its the overdirve sensor on the transmission. If you have around 70,000 miles on the motor its starts to go bad. This is a common problem that will be over looked by the tech unless you tell them exactly that.

I bet after the car cools down it starts up and is able to be drive for a bit then it does it again.

What is happening is that year car automatically goins into Overdrive Mode after 25 MPH to save gas. Well when this sensor goes bad it prevents the tranny from dropping out of Overdirve and the car stalls. It will start up in neutral or Park but as soon as its in gear it stalls again.

Knew about this when due to working for a dealership when I was right out of high school and then My grandmother had the same problem. But they replaced all these uneccessary parts to take advantage of her until I went up with her and told them the problem. It was fixed and she had no problems since.

The car doesn't have overdrive and it won't work no matter how long i let it sit for. I'm working on replacing the TCC solenoid right now. Could that be the problem?

Re: Can anyone help me??

the does HAVE Overdirve you just don't have the ability to select it you know the "D" with a circle around it. If the tCC solenoid is deals with the Torque converter, that would be the one. its the part responsible for shifting the tranny into OD after 25 MPH Automatically
