Evo Vii ?

why is the wheelwell bigger, or larger in the front then the back?? if i lower the car, do i need the same ratio..or can i drop it so both the front and the rear has a even wheel gap, right above the tire and the car..and i heard if someone drops their car, it damages the car in the long term...and whats better dropping the car with springs, coil overs, or air ride suspension?? thanks

arpiburpi,

auto shop 101:

the wheel well in the front is bigger because the front wheels of the car turn, therefore needing more space. if you lower the car, you can buy a quality adjustable coil-over system and set the height of the car to what you want. however, you have to keep in mind that the farther you lower the car, the more you'll be increasing "camber" (look it up on the internet). anything past 1.5 inches and you're going to need to put in camber adjustments, or buy a new set of tires every 3-4 months. i know on my civic (which i dropped 1.5") i didn't need to adjust camber. that would have cost me about $300. i bought springs and struts, but my friend bought adjustable height coil-overs and was real happy with them. you'll need struts with the springs cuz stock struts won't handle the harder bounce. usually you want a little more clearance in the front because the engine's up there and weighs a bit more than an empty trunk.

if you mean air suspension like airbags, then you're gay. if you put airbags on your car, you'll need a horn that plays "La Cucharacha" and get a multi-color paint job with a mural on the back window. for sporty driving, i'd suggest a nice set of coil-overs.
