Multiple Problems With 1991 HELP
First off, my car CONSTANTLY falls out of alignment. A week after an alignment it will be right out again and jerking to the right. Sounds like the camber is screwed up but wouldn't they notice something after aligning it so many times?
Second, while in park or reverse the whole right side of my car shakes hard (the right side while sitting in the car). Anyone know what this is? |

Re: Multiple Problems With 1991 HELP
Does Your Car Give A Squeeking Noise When Turning, Like A Cranking Noise, If So Check You CV Joints...and For The Violent Shaking IN P And R It Might Be A Bad Engine Mount In Your Car. But You Can Tell When This Happens, Does Your Car Like Jerk and Then You Hear Like A Loud Knock When Going In R Gear Or Out Of Park If So Then It's Strongly Possible You Have a Broken Eng. Mount.

Re: Multiple Problems With 1991 HELP
No it does not sqeak, my CV joints have broken on me before so those have been replaced recently. People keep telling me that it may be an engine mount but won't tell me which one. The car is fine when it first starts up, it won't shake. But as soon as you move it out of park it will begin slightly, then after you get it into reverse, it starts to shake worse. In drive it's fine, but then once you go to put it back into park it shakes just like reverse.

Re: Multiple Problems With 1991 HELP
For the shake, What I suspect is that one of the cylinders doesn't work. You can do a simple check.
1. Pull loose all spark wires, but keeps each wire in the spark tube. 2. Start the engine. 3. Pull each wire up couple inches one at a time. As soon as you lift the wire up, if the engine jerks worse or even goes out, then that cylinder is a good one. Put the wire back and repeat this step for the next wire. 4. If the engine does not sound different when a wire is pull out, then that cylinder doesn't work at all and that's the cause of the shake. The best situation is the wire or plug is bad. Just replace it. The worst case is that your engine has some internal problems. 5. If all cylinders work, then I would suspect the engine mounts. |
