NEW Tail Light Idea

I dont know about you but I'm kind of tired of the same old tail lights available now. They have been the same style for soooo long and they weren't that great to begin with. You know, the red ball ones with either cf or black or chrome. Some of these look god awfull. Why dont they come out with some new designs like those on the G35 coupe or Kia Spectra. They look a thousand times better. It looks like they have a whole chrome piece under a red outer piece, so they're all red or they are all red with a small chrome part. Anyway, would you guys like to see some tails like this? Maybe we could email some companies or something. Tell me what you think.

Re: NEW Tail Light Idea

Oh, I forgot. If someone could maybe photoshop the 1st pic's tails (or some other ones like it) onto the eclipse that would be really cool. (not the shape of the 1st ones, just the look, ya know)

Re: NEW Tail Light Idea

I agree, but the initial fixed costs would be far greater for something like this. I think some straight custom work woul be in order...a guy did this stuff on his 1996 maxima..he placed high intensity leds on both lights, and they ended up looking like the infinity ones.,...very sweet.

Re: NEW Tail Light Idea

No, I was thinking we could email companies like TYC and APC etc, and tell them we'd be interested in a different style of product, ya know. And if they got enough of a response, they might just feel there was a market for this style (i dont know how they're still making $ anyway with their outdated styles). Some of this style lights are already being made for other cars, but even they are hard to find. But to my knowledge nothing like these are being made for DSMs. Maybe we could just persuade them to make some for our cars. Let me know.

Here are some more pics of what I'm talking about. Sorry if I over did it.

Re: NEW Tail Light Idea

dude, the ones for the accord above are cool as hell. they look almost stock, but diferent in a subtle way, like its a special edition or something. TYC does make lights for our car but they suck methinks. it would be tight if they could make them in red crystal...

Re: NEW Tail Light Idea

Hey, nice work scottsee. Dual exhaust and everything. So tiny though.
So what about letting the companies know. Would you guys just want to email them or what?
I'm tired and goin to bed, but when I get up I'm gonna email them and see what they say.

Re: NEW Tail Light Idea

It wouldn't be a lot of fab work at all if you used the outside lines of the current taillights and just added two pieces to the center panel to create the curving shape. Seems like it could look nice that way too.

Re: NEW Tail Light Idea

No no, guys im not talking about molding tails in. I was just complementing scottsee on his work. Although the g35's lights do look really good on the eclipse. I was just talking about using that same style (candy red or whatever) that a lot of cars are using now in a new tail light for our cars since there hasn't been anything new or great in designs for awhile. APC, TYC, whatever, just keep making the same sh*t for DSMs and I just thought they could use a new design and get away from outdated altezzaz. This is what I was thinking they could come out with for our cars. I dont do photoshop or anything, so its really rough. But you can kinda get the basic idea. I can give someone the different pics I used if you want to do a better job.
