Yes, an upholstery shop should have Alcantara. Some larger fabric stores also carry it.

Alacantra, Novasuede and Ultrasuede are all pretty much the same thing. I don't know about where your at, but in portland, Car Havins Signiture fabrics is the Ultrasuede wholesaler and Hoch and Shebly is the Novasuede wholesaler. I don't know if they'll sell to you or ship, but if you want I can post up thier numbers for you.

Re: Where can i buy alakantra?

Alcantara usually runs $85.00 or more per yard.
Email me and I will give you a phone # to a place that I get it from.

I work at an upholstery shop, is that $85 price wholesale or retail? I know the 2 local wholesalers around here of Novasuede and Ultrasuede, never looked into the local wholesaler of Alcantara. Novasuede runs $60 a roll yard wholesale and Ultrasuede $78 a yard wholesale (retail on both is considerable higher). Novasuede has a wear rating of 100,000 doulble rubs and Ultrasuede of 200,000 double rubs, both of these are quiet a bit higher than regular fabric. All 3 are basically the same thing (different companys versions of the same thing). Anyways, do you happen to know the wear rating (how many double rubs) of the Alcantara. I'd be interested to find out where you get the Alcantara at (if it's wholesale especially). I wouldn't mind getting a sample of Alcantara and comparing it to the Ultrasuede and Novasuede.
