Imaginary rumble strips???

3.8 with 190,000 miles. Somewhere between OD and D as the van is shifting between these two, the van will feel like I am running over those "bulldozer" tread marks like on the side of the interstater. Every now and then, I don't have an OD. What are my options?

I'm going under the wrench next week. I'll let you know after the operation. 2 A/T "specialists" think it is a bad Torque converter.

It was a bad torque converter. I used the plus 4 AT Chrysler fluid and it stopped it for 2 weeks. THe transmission guy recommended it saying to try it if I was not ready to go for a transmission job. ANyway, $1600 later, my transmission shudder is gone. HE rebuilt the entire transmission.

Gebo,

This is Stuart1003, holly moly...you have had your own share of problems in addition to the windows...Did you ever get the window problems resolved?...If so, then how?

Yes, my final problem with the window was a loose connection in the wiring somewhere. I just moved the wiring in my door (everytime the window would stop working) until I found the area and then kept moving it around until I think I finally got it fixed.

Re: Imaginary rumble strips???

Your problem may be just like mine....which I think is not transmission related ( check out the 2nd link by LMP). I do not understand why you say you do not have OD. It is my understanding that all the 3.8 engines came with the 4 speed, and the 4th gear is the overdrive gear.

Re: Imaginary rumble strips???

IT was torque converter. AFter it slipped so long trying to go into OD, the computer would lock out the OD gear to prevent the continual slippage from the AT trying to go into OD from 3rd. What I meant was I only had 3 forward gears. It would not go into OD after the AT warmed up.
