need help with motor mounts
i have a 02 neon and i took it to the shop because it has really bad vibrations except when i'm driving , i thought it might have been the coil pack , plugs or wires but they said it's the motor mounts. Has anyone had this problem before? and are the mounts hard to change?

Re: need help with motor mounts
hmm...that sounds wierd to me. I guess if a motor mount was torn (they are kinda weak on the Neons), the bolt that goes thru it might be vibrating around when idling. I would start the car up and look at the mounts first, just to see if they're BS'ing your or not.
Of course, you could have contracted "Neon rough idle syndrome" hehe. |

Re: need help with motor mounts
When the car's idling and the hood's popped, how do the mounts look? The top one is right there so it should be easy to see if it's messed up. The bottom one's tricky to see though....I bought my neon with 30k miles on it and the top motor mount was ripped up...I installed a set of Rex motor mount inserts and it's been fine since.
I had/have an extremely rough idle at stoplights also (more so cuz of the inserts), my entire cabin vibrates. I found out the power steering pump valves stick. So when I'm stopped I lightly jerk the wheel to one side and it stops. Or lightly tap the gas, either one. This might or might not be it though, but try it! |
