Swap automatic to manual tranmission

Hey guys...My name is Anthony and I'm new to the forum. I have a 1968 Dodge Charger RT. I'm bored with the automatic tranny and I'm looking to start a new project, which is to convert the automatic tranny to a manual. I'm a mechanic so I'll have no problem in that area, just need some suggestions about where to get the proper parts for the job. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You're going to convert the auto to a manual? You mean like swap the auto for a manual or take the auto and make it into a manual?

An 833 4 gear is what you need.

Re: Swap automatic to manual tranmission

This is gonna be a little bit involved. You'll have to do a bunch of fabricating in order to put a clutch pedal in there, and cut a hole in the floor for a shifter, and everything else. Not a small project anyway.

I don't have any suggestions for you, but good luck.

Re: Swap automatic to manual tranmission

Dodge68RT ..... easyest is find a donner car, 68, 68, 70 that had a manual, pedal assy and hole location for clutch rod does not have to be R/T, for the trany junkyard and rebuild it ..... xXxRocker5150 .... good luck, that style aute was only a three speed, not sure what the late model truck/Viper are using or compatability with 70 big block
