Air Conditioning

99 Cherokee - Air Conditioning. It works for maybe 5 minutes and then quits. It will occasionally cycle on after that.

It was recently checked and charged with no errors or problems. It's not leaking.

I checked the drain plug and all seems fine. No water on the floor.

The clutch just doesn't cycle on. I checked both the high pressure and low pressure cutouts and they seem fine (with a meter). I shorted the connector for each and it still doesn't cycle on so I don't suspect either.

Has anyone seen this before? Is there any kind of a thermostat inside the vehicle? I believe there's some kind of "control module" behind the dash but I don't understand what could cause it to work for 5 minutes and then quit, rather like something is overheating, but what? It's probably not the compressor since I can't find anything near the compressor to detect temperature or problems that would prevent the clutch from cycling.

Thanks for any suggestions.
