1989 F-150 will not start.

Hello all, 89 f-150 with new plugs, wires, fule tanks, sending units etc.....will turn over and can hear the fuel pumps priming the fuel injectors, but it won't fire. I am pretty sure I am getting fuel, but not 100% as I am relatively new to fuel injection.

Any tips.?? The other day it fired right up, and I moved it 50feet in my driveway..............

Thanks

greetings from Louisiana,
My boyfriend has a 1985 F150 and has much experience in dealing with the same behavior from his truck. For years he and his mechanics researched and tried to find answers to this same problem. He said to write to you and to tell you that it is likely a relay. Check out any relay involved in the ignition system. He had this replaced and it has not laid down and left him stranded since. Good luck!

Re: 1989 F-150 will not start.

do you have spark? If you do that is the same pickup which tells the pcm to open the injectors. Check to see that. Also, assuming you have dual tanks, there are 3 pumps. One in each tank and then one high pressure on the frame rail. Now single tanks are the same setup, you could be hearing the in tank low pressure pump, but the high pressure could not be running. Take a fuel pressure test.
