Angry whining from clutch

hello! im a long time reader viewer and now i need some advice!! i have a 99 gt--stock, and when i drive the car and apply pressure to the clutch and switch gears, i hear an obnoxious whining..mind you this is only when the motor is cold. after about 5 min of running or driving it goes away...any suggestions????? before i bought the car i had a full out diagnostics check and all that shit checked out, but the motor was warm at the time of the test, so nothing was obvious..it kinda sounds like metal is rubbing againest metal, is there a way to lubricate it?? please help!!!!

p.s. should i start looking into purchasing a new king cobra clutch? thanks guys!!!!!

First thing that comes to mind is the throw-out bearing. But those things usually make more of a squeal sound than a whine sound when they go.

Re: whining from clutch

That's just the way throw-out bearings go sometimes. They squeal when they are cold but quit once they warm up a little.

Re: whining from clutch

Not always that way though, my car is losing it's throw out bearing right now and it squeaks when my foot is right off the clutch. Soon as I push the clutch in, it quits. Doesn't matter if it's hot or cold.

Re: whining from clutch

Mine squeels when I have the clutch pedal in, but if I keep taking taking my foot on and off the clutch pedal, it eventually goes away for a little while.

I'm having the exact same problem. Also I'm getting a squeaking sound when I press the Clutch Pedal in, must be the Clutch Cable. Is this stuff serious? If I need to get this stuff fixed I might as well replace the clutch disk and maybe get the flywheel resurfaced, since the whole shebang's gotta be opened

Well the thing is, you gotta pull the transmision to change the throw-out bearing, so at the very least, have a good look at everything and make sure the rest is ok, or change whatever else is needed while you have it apart. Unless of course you have the cash and you're gonna upgrade anyway.
