Exterior on 2002 Help!!

i am about to add some decals on the outside of my 2 door 2002 caviler coupe and i wanted to take off the strip that goes from the driver side and pasenger side doors to their rear quarter panels (barely just a small part on the quarter panel) off. I know the small part is just glued on and I was wondering if anyone knows if the larger part is glued on also ont he doors. And what is the best way to go about making sure not to hurt the paint and not to leave sticky crap behind?

Re: Exterior on 2002 Help!!

the decal on the back is glue, but you can get it off pretty easy. i took mine off my s10, then cleaned it with warm water and soap and it looks fine. as far as the decals on the side, i myself wouldnt mess with it; its probably going to take a long time to get all that off since its such a small strip, so its prone to breaking more often. plus after you tore it off you will notice the difference in your paint.

I also don't recommend taking it off... but you could use WD40 or lighter fluid... if you have that much

Re: Exterior on 2002 Help!!

First its held on with double sided 3M Tape. all you do is take a biece of fishing line probably at least 20 pound test line and slowly work your way down underneath the body molding (your strip thingy). That will cut the tape. After your done you will be left with the adheasive side of the tape stuck on the car. Use somthing that removes Tar or adhesives. Gasoline or Kerosine works but its harsh on the paint. Go to your local auto parts stor e and they will direct you. After wards you have to re wax the area because the adheasive remove will strip the wax.

have fun.

Well you guys i did it, and i used a fishing wire i went underneath it and it came off no discoloation bc it was put on after the car was painted. i used some warm water and soap and it came off the sticky stuff at least. i re waxed my car to keep up apearences and all and it look pretty cool now bc the strip that wwas on their was showing discoloation from the sun and it started to look funny.

Re: Exterior on 2002 Help!!

Hm. You could have used a Hair dryer to warm the glue/tape and it would have came off really easy. To little to late though
